Several players have asked why the rules do not contain a unit point system in order to constitute armies. This subject has always been the cause of heated debates amongst players. The French esteem the Old Guard Grenadiers are invincible super heroes, the British feel the same of their Guard units as do the Russians of their Guard units...
I thus leave it up to players to establish their own point system. What is important is that all players feel the two opposing armies are more or less equivalent in strength. I suggest the following which is of course adaptable by all.
The basic rule is that a Guard/Elite unit is worth two Line units or three Militia units. For example, if one player has 4 Line units and 1 Elite unit, his or her opponent will have either 4 Line units and an extra 2 Line units or an extra 3 Militia units.
This can be further ajusted by allowing one player to have :
1) more infantry units with a better skirmish class 2) more rifle infantry units which shoot at 6 instead of 4 MU like other infantry units do 3) Guard in place of Elite units 4) Heavy rather than Light cavalry units 5) Objectives with point values that are easier to attain than his opponent.
